Me against the elements

It's been very windy and very rainy here for the past two days. And the weather is deliciously damp and wonderful....adrak-elaichi waali chai, anyone? :D

Cloud break. (The black speck is a leaf carried on the wind.)

The sky always mesmerizes me.
:)

(That white thing is my dupatta being whipped along the wind. And that's my hand trying to pull it away from the front of the lens but guess I didn't do that in time.)

(I clipped this camera cover to the clothesline with my clutcher. Weird inspiration: "Caught by a Butterfly" :D)

So I was trying to catch one of those fickle lightening flashes on the cam and after several missed chances and a lot of oops-there-goes-a-brilliant-photo-op-right-before-my-eyes types moments, I decided there was no point trying to do so. In one last desperate attempt, I said to the heavens : "Look, this is the last time I'm trying for today. There must be a lightening flash just as I press the capture button. And this is a warning."

I pressed the button, and voila! there was lightening. A brilliant hot copper-purple flash that spectacularly split apart the darkness and streaked across the dark ashen sky in a dazzling electric arc. A picture-perfect bolt.

The glitch? It flashed in the direction exactly opposite to where my camera was pointed for supposedly taking a pic of it. :(

Guess the next time I issue warnings to the heavens, it should be with all the necessary conditions attached. :|

I managed to capture just a scintillation.

NICE pics...esp the last purple one--the scintillation.
and the camera cover held by ur clutcjer. very nice.
i love taking pics of the sky too. i'll put up my pics tomorrow i suppose. watch out.
but it didn't lighten at my place *wonders what the verb for 'lightening is*
ya, i'll join you for adrak-wali-chai, as long as you make it. i suck at such chai-making stuff.

Adrak waali chai, omg pakka! It's been sort of windy here too but no rain, sadly.

Nice pics of the sky, even I take pics of the sky sometimes but since I'm not exactly a camera person, they never end up being good.

And dupatta waala pictures are nice. "Hawa mein udta jaaye, tera safed dupatta xyz material ka, safed dupatta xyz material ka" :P

Baaki naakhun dekhkar dar lag raha hai. Pehle hypothetical rolled newspaper maaregi, phir naakhun maaregi. Bachaaao. :S

Camera cover is also very cool, makes me wanna cry when I look at mine. :(

And Nids: When in doubt..remember your maa-ki..oops matlab mothertongue. Mere ghar pe bijli nahi giri. As simple as that. :P

And after that say I love you Mummy..tongue. Mummy bhi khush, tongue bhi khush, tum bhi khush, sanyukta bhi khush, and main toh waise hi always khush. Aur kya chahiye? :P

Awesome photographs! Guess, how stupid you di is ...
When I saw that photo with the leaf being carried in wind, I tried to clean my laptop screen! *embarrassed*

That one is my fav after the footnote and then the fourth and the last one :)

Adrak wali chai ke liye deri ho gayi? Agar nahi to fir saath mein kuch pakode bhi ho jaaye?

@Everybody:

Adrak waali chai sure! Pakode bhi. Pyaaz aur aaloo ke. Crispy hot straight from the frying pan. Damn calorie counts for a day and join me! :D
:)

@Lincoln

Who cares about the periodic table??!! :D :P

@Nids:

Thanks ! :) About the verb for lightening, erhm....read ishmeet's comment. very enlightening. :P

@Ish:

Thenks :)
Aur dupatta is cotton. Ab lyrics sahi karr ke gaa. "xyz material" se tune bigad rahi hai. :|
Camera cover is a very flimsy substitute. Literally flimsy. The proper cover got stolen. (Imagine, somebody stole a khaali cam cover. Sheesh.)

Chalo that's good. Sab khush. :) Bijli toh waisay mere ghar pe bhi nahi giri :P
Aur kuchh nahi chahiye. Dhanyavaad.
:)

@Arti di

OMG I'm so glad to see you here! LOL....u really did that...cleaning the laptop screen ? :D
Thanks about the pics...chai ke liye no deri..aapke liye toh kabhi bhi. :)

Cotton, achcha. Here goes, "Hawa mein udta jaaye, tera safed dupatta cotton ka, safed dupatta cotton ka, dil pe vaar chalaye, tera safed dupatta cotton ka, safed dupatta cotton ka hoo oh hooh oh"

Bas, iske aage ab mereko lyrics yaad nahi hain. Waise bhi iske baad to Bombay Vikings waala apni bekaar ki English maarta hai uska waise bhi farak nahi padta. :P

Somebody stole your camera cover? Lol. Shayad usko pata nahi hoga ki cover khaali hai. The other day I heard this news about this person who stole a very expensive mobile phone from a person in Mumbai and got caught later. Guess how? He went to every shop trying to find a charger for the mobile and somebody called the police. Bechaara. :P

Haan mera matlab tha ki ghar ke aas paas bijli nahi giri. Pata nahi logon ko har cheez ki khaal udhedne ka itna keeda kyun hota hai. :P

And chai and pakode waala plan pakka, tum batao sahi kis din. And uske baad pav bhaji bhi. It's fun to have pav bhaji from one of those rehri's in a windy weather, nahi?

@Arti Di

I didn't forget. Check out the '@Everybody' part in my reply comment :)

@Ish

Hmm..great. Achchha gaa lete ho tum. :P
:)

yeah the cam cover was stolen. I'd taken it to school for some campus photography, left it on a chair in the foyer and went to take some photographs, came back and the cover wasn't there. Guess one of the KG kids passing by took that. The kiddo must have thought it was a cute soft little purse or something. LOL :D

Khaal udhedne ka keeda? Though I don't express it so eloquently :P but I do have something like this.
Jabsse mereko editor banaya skoool mag ki never do any errors in language escape me :P :D

Yeah paav bhaji gotta be fun. Woh toh tere punjaab aake khaaenge :P

Beautiful pictures!!! Loved it! :D

And adrak-waali chai??? Anytime girl ;)

Arre waah, thank you for the compliment yaar. First time kisi ne kaha ki I sing good. Otherwise they only tell me to shut up. :P

Hota hai, chote bachchon ko hota hai. Maybe it was somebody older too, I've seen a lot of kleptomaniacs at school. Hamaari class mein pens aur clutch pencils bahut chori hoti thi. So it was so funny that whenever a student would go to the toilet or to the ground during recess, they'd stuff their pens and pencils in the pocket nahi toh chori ho jaate the.

Achcha, aisa hai. Then I should take care that if I ever start writing for an akhbaar, you should not be the editor for that nahi toh agle din you'll call me in the cabin and do a "You're FIRED" on me. Man, firing somebody must be so much fun right?

And Punjab mein Pav Bhajji pakka. We have sooo many rehri's in here and har rehri ka naam "Bombay Pav Bhaji" hota hai. And kisi ka Bombay se koi lena dena nahi hota lol.

It's been raining straight for two days now, it's soo fun! :D
